In my personal opinion, I think someone who doesn’t like hot chocolate shouldn’t be entitled as to be human. Hot chocolate is something that directly came from the heaven, so yummy, so delicious and so rich. No matter if it is summers or winters I love to drink this treat in every season. But did you ever wanted to eat it? No, I’m not talking about eating a spoon full of cocoa powder of chocolate syrup. I’m talking about eating actual hot chocolate in the form of cake.
The rich chocolate flavour in this cake comes from the international Delight’s hot dark chocolate and it also makes the cake so moist and delish. This is their new product but it is going to be viral in no time because this is so tasty and so much good. This shouldn’t be used only in cakes but it can also be used with the cup of milk and cream and enjoy! But here we are going to make a cake. That too tastes delicious when not that hot, it tastes yummy when straight out of the refrigerator.
The base of the cake starts with chocolate cake mix, and if you don’t have it, no problem you still can make the cake batter yourself, this is as simple as that. This royal hot chocolate cake is prepared layer by layer, started with dense chocolate cake, marshmallows, buttercream, chocolate frosting, hot chocolate syrup, marshmallow buttercream again chocolate toppings and end with toasted marshmallow. I can feel the delicious taste already in my mouth. The smooth and runny buttercream will be covered by chocolate frosting. And the toasted marshmallow is like a cherry on top.
Ingredients:
CAKE
- 3 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
- 1 & 1/3 cup International Delight Dark Hot Chocolate
- 1/2 cup oil
- Chocolate cake mix
CHOCOLATE GANACHE
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
MARSHMALLOW BUTTERCREAM
- 2 sticks butter, room temperature
- 1 & 1/2 containers marshmallow fluff, 7oz each
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Mini marshmallows to top the cake
Here is the detailed recipe of this monstrous hot chocolate cake.
Directions:
Take two, 8 inch round pan and cover the sides and bottom of the pan with parchment paper and grease with oil spray or butter and set aside plus preheat the oven as written on the cake mix box. It is not important to use cake mix, you can also make your own homemade cake batter with all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sugar. But if you are using cake mix than just follow this recipe as it is.
Take a large bowl and break all eggs, egg yolks, vegetable oil and international delight hot chocolate and whisk together with electric beater until smooth. Now open the cake mix box and pour the mixture in egg material and beat with the beater until a smooth cake batter is prepared.
Divide this cake batter in already greased pans and bake for about 25-30 minutes, till the toothpick comes out clean.
When the cakes are ready, let them cool in the pans than place them in cake stands or cake plates and let them cool while you prepare the frostings.
CHOCOLATE GANACHE
Take a medium sized bowl and place all the chocolate chips in it and in another bowl add heavy cream and boil until boiling, now pour this boiling heavy cream over the chocolate chips and let it sit for a minute than mix with spatula to get smooth even chocolate mixture. Let it cool at room temperature before you spread this over the cake.
MARSHMALLOW BUTTERCREAM
Take a larg bowl and add butter and beat with electric beater until butter gets creamy and fluffy. Now add vanilla essence and marshmallow fluff and mix with spatula. Be careful when mixing marshmallows because they could be very much sticky. Now add 1 cup of sugar at first than remaining. Mix with spatula before using beater. Beat with electric beater until smoothly combined.
TO ASSEMBLE THE CAKE
Okay, to start with, place 1 tsp. of buttercream at cakes stand and then place 1st layer of 8 inch cake in cake stand and place buttercream on the layer and spread evenly with spatula. It’s all up to you that how much frosting you want in between the 1st layer of the cake, just make sure you add enough amount of frosting, so that it can be seen from the outer sides. Now drizzle some chocolate ganache over the buttercream, on the sides and let it fall over the sides of the cake.
Now place second layer of the cake and add more buttercream and smooth with spatula and again add chocolate ganache and allow it to drizzle over the sides and cover the whole cake with chocolate ganache like there would be all hot chocolate. Now put handful of marshmallows over the top of the cake and then do the best part of the whole recipe, toast the marshmallows with kitchen torch.
You can also sprinkle some chocolate chips over it.
This cake can serve in both ways either hot or cold. Enjoy this yummy delight!
